Participate in Indigenous Peoples’ Month at Cold Creek Conservation Area in this unique hike and workshop: Indigenous Medicines Walk & Talk and Oil Infusion Workshop. Participate in a guided hike with Tanya Gluvakov to learn honourable and sustainable wild harvesting practices, including how to identify medicinal plants, connect with the land, and create a reciprocal relationship with these medicines. After harvesting, participants are invited to make oil infusions from pre-harvested, dried local medicines identified on the hike to take home and share; and, participate in a talking circle and mindfulness exercises to better connect with the land.

Fee: $30.00+HST Resident, $33.00+HST Non-Resident

Notes:

  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks, outdoor gear (hat, sunscreen, bug spray, backpack), and water. Complimentary coffee and tea will be available during the infusion workshop.
  • A light, slow paced walk is required. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear; and, be aware that this is a light, active program.
  • This is an outdoor event. It will run rain or shine, unless cancelled in advance due to extreme weather conditions. Please dress accordingly.
  • Program designed for all ages: adults, seniors, families are welcome!
  • All participating children must be supervised by a registered adult.
