Description of Project
- Sanitary sewer mains are being constructed in Nobleton. Sanitary sewers are an important component of urban infrastructure given they reduce the risk of leaked water-borne contaminants that can come from septic systems, they are maintained and operated by municipal and regional government to ensure consistent functionality, and it creates ease for property owners as they eliminate the need for maintain or replace septic systems.
Most Recent Update - June 3rd, 2022:
Base asphalt repairs are ongoing to comply with the 3rd-party inspection report. Construction crews are currently parging catch basins and manhole lids and finalizing concrete curbs repairs.
For surface asphalt, a paving subcontractor is scheduled for the 4th week of June 2022 for final paving.
Once top asphalt is complete, crews will shift focus on addressing all outstanding deficiencies concerning impacted residents.
Your cooperation and patience are greatly appreciated. Further updates will be provided in the near future.

It is estimated that this activity will be completed within two weeks of mobilization.

Description of Project
- The watermains along Western Avenue from Church Street to Brownsville Court, Castlewood Avenue and Elmwood Avenue will be rehabilitated using a trenchless relining method.
- Relining watermains is less impactful to residents. Instead of digging up the entire road, the contractor will excavate pits to access the main at strategic locations. The relining process involves cleaning the inside of the watermain, inserting the liner and then curing the liner in place.
- The Township has decided to take this cost effective and less impactful approach of relining the existing pipes to extend the service life of these watermains and improve reliability and durability.
This work also includes:
- Installation of a temporary watermain, allowing the Contractor to reline the existing watermain without any long term water shut-offs.
- Replacement of all water services up to property line and curbstops under 25mm.
- Replacement of a number of existing fire hydrants.
- Installation of additional fire hydrants to ensure fire safety.
- Replacement of small sections of existing watermain.
Most Recent Update - July 19th, 2022
The Contractor will be proceeding with installing the new water services including the water valves (curbstops), up to property line, beginning Tuesday July 19th. During this work there will be small excavations within each property. We have consulted with an arborist for curbstops located within the vicinity of trees, our crews will be following the arborist’s recommendations to ensure we limit any tree injuries. All damaged sod will be restored after the work is complete.
If there are plants or shrubs in the vicinity of the existing curbstop that homeowners would like to preserve, we recommend homeowners relocate the plants/shrubs until construction is complete.
June 24th, 2022 There will be 3 intermittent full road closures beginning Thursday, June 30th, at the locations per attached map (51 Western, 102 Western & Brownsville/ Western). The duration of this work will take approximately 1 week. See below summary of the work:
- Each crossing will be completed one at a time, ensuring residents will have access and egress at all the times.
- Road closures will occur during the day and the road will be opened each evening.
- Detour signs will be posted when the work begins.
- Access to Brownsville will be maintained.
- May 30th, 2022 The Western, Castlewood and Elmwood Watermain Lining project is progressing. The temporary watermain has been installed and all homes are now connected, residents may experience lower water pressures than normal, while connected to the temporary watermain. The Contractor will be continuing with isolated excavations to install small portions of new watermain; new hydrants; complete the lining; and install new water services up to the property line.
