King Township provides a weekly recycle collection. All materials for recycling collection must be placed in blue boxes issued by the Township or in approved alternates as outlined in the Township’s waste collection by-law2018-77.
To purchase waste containers, you can use our Online Services portal.

Exceptions such as cardboard may be placed beside the blue box provided it's flattened, bundled and tied with twine or string (no tape). Bundles must not exceed 20" x 24" x 12". Please do not place any recycling products in plastic bags.
Please ensure that your garbage and blue boxes are visible to the operator (not blocked by parked cars) or on top of snow banks.
Visit the Region of York's website to learn more about the new items you can now add to your blue box.
Important - Did you know that no sorting is required? All recyclables can now be combined into one blue box.
Recycling Program Information
Transitioning the blue box collection program
Changes to the Blue Box Program – Starting Jan. 1, 2026
Starting January 1, 2026, Circular Materials (CM), will be introducing changes to how recycling is collected in King Township
- New recycling carts: Residents will receive a 95-gallon wheeled cart for recycling – more detail to follow on when you will be receiving the cart.
- Collection frequency: Recycling will be picked up every other week instead of weekly.
- Automated collection: Recycling carts will be collected using trucks with mechanical arms, replacing manual collection by collectors.
Any future modifications to the blue box program will be determined by Circular Materials and will be communicated to the public as updates become available.
In accordance with the provincial Blue Box Regulation, Ontario's Blue Box Program is moving to a new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) model. Under this framework, producers of blue box materials will take on the responsibility for collecting, processing and recycling these items. This shift means that companies that manufacture, market and package products will be fully accountable for managing and funding the entire lifecycle of their materials.
