Volunteerism and involvement with our committees is a great way for local residents to learn about key Township issues and initiatives.

Committees
The Accessibility Advisory Committee is to provide information and make recommendations to the Mayor and Council with regard to the Township’s requirements under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations (IASR) under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and to perform duties of the committee as specified under the Acts.

The Audit Committee is comprised of the Mayor and all Ward Councillors. The Audit Committee meets at least once a year.
The purpose of the Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC) is act as an advisory committee to advise and assist Council on matters relating to the Township of King’s heritage (pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act) as well as to serve as a resource for the community on heritage-related matters relating to Part IV (the conservation of Properties of Cultural Interest) and Part V (heritage conservation districts) of the Ontario Heritage Act, and other such matters as the Council may specify by by-law. In addition, the mandate will include acting as a resource for citizens in matters pertaining to conservation, restoration and renovation of heritage properties. It will also work to raise awareness of the Township’s heritage in the community.

The Township of King, along with the Towns of Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Richmond Hill, Whitchurch-Stouffville, and the City of Vaughan have established a Joint Compliance Audit Committee (JCAC) under Section 88.37 (1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for the 2018-2022 term of Council.

All requests for a compliance audit must be submitted to the Township Clerk using the prescribed application form during regular business hours. A separate application form is required for each individual candidate or registered third party.

Terms of Reference
The purpose of the Sustainability Committee is to guide the implementation of the Township's Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP). The "Plan" is a living document intended to guide King on its path to sustainability.
The Committee is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the community led immediate priorities outlined in the Plan. The Committee will also be responsible for prioritizing the action bank items identified in the Plan and will provide advice on the action items that the Township will take the lead on.
The Committee will focus on community outreach and engagement as well as work closely with Council, staff, local organizations, businesses and stakeholders.

The King Township Public Library Board will direct the community's library service with responsible policies and decisions so that all services are provided in welcoming, safe and accessible spaces for the sharing and enjoyment of knowledge; support the provisions of the Canadian Library Association's Statement on Intellectual Freedom (1985).
The Library aims to connect people to educational, cultural and contemporary recreational resources, and their communities. The Library encourages people of all ages to "enter inquisitive...leave enlightened".
The Township of King Public Library Board term runs concurrent with Council. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month. No meetings are held during the months of July and August.
