King Township will be hosting a virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) on the new Town-wide Recreation Centre at 6 pm on June 29. The purpose of the PIC is to share the final designs of the indoor and outdoor facilities, to be located on Seneca College's King City campus.

Information on how to view the PIC and ask questions will be provided later this week.

The recreation centre was designed based on information gathered as part of the 2019 Facility Services Master Plan.

In late 2019 and early 2020 staff went out to various locations and met with residents to gather feedback. We are happy that we have been able to incorporate many of the suggestions we heard, including a larger pool and second ice pad thanks to the recent Federal and Provincial funding announcement.

The current design includes:

  • Two NHL sized ice surfaces
  • A six-lane, 25-metre lap pool and separate leisure pool
  • An indoor walking track
  • A multipurpose athletic and fitness space
  • Community spaces
