Parents can plan for summer camp registration, opening at 7 a.m. on Mar. 1

The countdown to summer in King Township– and the long break from school – is on! If you’re a parent looking to plan your child’s summer, you can browse King’s new 2024 Summer Camps guide, now available online at king.ca/camps.

Whether your child is a young artist or chef, a challenge course climber, sports superstar or science wiz there is a camp in King that they (and you) will love! Registration opens at 7 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 1 on the Township’s online recreation registration system at townshipofking.perfectmind.com.

The summer camp season begins on Tuesday, Jul. 2 with camps running for one week sessions until Friday, Aug. 30 at various recreation facilities located in King City, Nobleton and Schomberg. Camps are sorted by area of interest to make the search easier for parents and kids. Choose from over 40 camps for ages four to 13 in arts and culture,  leaders in training, sports, science and technology, the great outdoors, general and specialty interests. Inclusion support staff for children with disabilities is provided free of charge to Township of King residents, pending availability. In addition to days filled with traditional camp fun, all campers can look forward to visits from special guests and pizza lunch on Fridays.

Here's what’s coming back (by popular demand) and a sneak peek into what’s new!

Many camp classics are making their return, including: We be Tripping, Multi-Sport Camp, Just for Kicks, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, Cooking, Mad Science, and Coding. In addition to this, King’s summer camps team has been busy planning several new and exciting options. Here are some highlights:

Gogh to Camp (ages 7-9)
Explore different types of art through a variety of techniques, materials and individual and group projects – just like Vincent van Gogh!

Tiny Twisters with Pulsars Gymnastics (ages 4-6)

Learn the basic building blocks of gymnastics as you tuck and tumble your way through gymnastics circuits.

Abracadabra (ages 7-9)
Learn a variety of magic tricks such as sleight of hand, card tricks, optical toys, fortune telling and stage theatrics – then (ta-da!) host your own magic show.

Convenient locations and flexible drop-off and pick-up

Camp sites include the following locations: King City Arena and Seniors Centre, Nobleton Arena, the Trisan Centre, Schomberg Hall, King Township Municipal Centre, King Heritage and Cultural Centre, and Cold Creek Conservation Area. The types of camps vary by location. The camp day runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with flexible drop-off for campers starting at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ending at 5 p.m. Bussing is only available for field trips for select camps.

King’s Camp team is top notch!

All camp staff are certified in Standard First Aid, CPR- C and HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development and have received a positive Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
