There are Four High Level Goals that Anchor the Economic Development Strategy

Building on the Success of the 2013 - 2017 Strategy
The 2013 Strategy was a success. It has led the introduction of tools such as the Community Improvement Plan and has assisted in growing the spectrum of business services available across the Township. Building on its success, in 2017 the Economic Development Department embarked on the development of a new Economic Development Strategy for the years 2018-2022.
Over 200 Businesses and Community Members Contributed Input to the Updated Strategy
The collaborative process began in September 2017, with the objective of launching a roadmap to guide activities and help make decisions on future economic development programs and services for the Township in Spring 2018.
The update was intended to identify strategic directions that build off of existing strengths, as well as identify new and emerging opportunities on which to base the future prosperity of our community. The strategy also identified key challenges, gaps and barriers, assesses the local asset base, assessed infrastructure requirements and identified education and training enhancements, all as they pertain to achievement of successful economic development.
To complete the strategy, the Township retained the services of MDB Insight, a strategic planning and economic development specialist consultancy with extensive experience working with communities and regions across Canada and Ontario. MDB Insight worked with staff to build upon the Township’s recent economic development successes.
Broader stakeholder participation included interviews and an online questionnaire with community and business stakeholders throughout the community. More than 200 questionnaire responses were received from business owners, residents, students and service organizations.
In addition to sharing their ideas of what makes King Township a great place to live, work and play, stakeholders provided excellent comments on areas to improve and ways to help King thrive. Common themes included support for entrepreneurs, planning for growth and investment, and foundational community economic development, with many areas of overlap and interconnectedness.
