King's Top 5

You asked. We answer.

The Township of King’s customer service team, ServiceKING, connects daily with the community. The team is ready to answer your call or email message and to welcome you in-person to the King Township Municipal Centre.

Here are the Top 5 topics heard this week by the ServiceKING team with links to where to find information.

March 23

Water Bills

The Township of King experienced delivery challenges with the mailing of water bills for the fourth quarter of 2022. Some residents in Nobleton and King City did not receive their water bills prior to the Feb. 24, 2023, due date.

The Township is investigating the source of the delay and apologizes for the inconvenience.

Revised letters were sent as of March 13. The due date for the fourth quarter water billing is extended to March 31, 2023. No late payment penalty will be charged until after that date. Any penalty that has already been paid, along with any amounts paid for a printed copy of water bill invoices, will be refunded.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.

Payment options for both water and tax bills include:

  • Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) Program
  • Electronic Banking
  • Bank Payment
  • Mail
  • In-Person
  • Post-Dated cheques
  • Online Payments

Water Meter Readings

Some residents are receiving requests from King to allow access to the water meter in the home for an accurate reading. If you received a request for a water meter reading, please contact ServiceKING at 905-833-5321 to book an appointment.

King Roads after Winter

King has 490 kilometres of roads, including 426 paved and 64 gravel roads. King’s snow clearing team keeps Township roads and sidewalks safe, while York Region manages the Regional roads in King, which includes winter maintenance.

The Township repairs cracks and potholes and regrades and scrapes gravel roads. Most repair work is done after the winter season.

Street sweeping to remove sand and debris from the winter will begin in April 2023 in Nobleton, Schomberg and King City, weather permitting. The Township will share the schedule as it’s available. Visit king.ca/streetsweeping.

Automated Speed Enforcement Tickets

Some residents have contacted ServiceKING regarding a ticket they have received through Automated speed enforcement. This enforcement, put in place by York Region, is a system that uses a camera and speed measurement device to enforce speed limits in identified areas.

If a vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit in an automated speed enforcement area, the automated speed enforcement system captures an image which is reviewed by a provincial offences officer. An image of the offence, license plate and ticket with an associated fine will be mailed within the next 30 days.

Visit york.ca/transportation/traffic/automated-speed-enforcement for frequently asked questions and details about how to appeal and where to pay fines.

Spring Recreation Session and Drop-in Programs

Residents are looking to book recreation programs with King. King’s spring recreation session runs from April 1 to June 30 and registration is now open. Find your favorite program at king.ca/recreation.

For those who want to drop in to visit different programs and activities, find great activities at king.ca/dropinprograms.
