“The Small Urban GTHA Mayors met on February 10th to discuss the implications for small urban municipalities of Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022.

The Mayors agreed that they support attainable housing for all. They want to work with the Province to ensure local government has the financial support needed to avoid shifting the financial burden of development onto local taxpayers.

The Small Urban GTHA Mayors encourage residents and anyone interested in the implications of Bill 23 for municipalities to watch one of two virtual meetings taking place on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at York Regional Council and Region of Peel Council. Both meetings are available live online.

The Small Urban GTHA Mayors will request that the Premier and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing meet with the group of Mayors and that the Small Urban GTHA Mayors and the Province work together to create a bright future that includes housing for all.”
