Notice

Take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of King passed By-law Number 2026-027 on April 13, 2026, to amend By-law 92-123, being a by-law to designate the property known as 2920 King Road, described as Part of Lot 6 of Concession 4, in the Village of King City, in the Township of King in the Regional Municipality of York, Province of Ontario, under Part IV, S. 30.1 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990.

The Township Clerk received no objections to the Notice of Proposed Amendment, dated February 25, 2026.

Description of Property

Located on the north side of King Road, east of Jane Street, the property is municipally known as the King Culture & Heritage Centre, 2920 King Road, in the Township of King, in the Regional Municipality of York, Province of Ontario; and legally described as PIN 03370-0254, PT LT 9 CON 6, 65R-38646, KING AS IN PART 2.

Purpose and Effect of Amendment

The subject property contains multiple historic buildings, including the King Christian Church, the King Station, and the Laskay Hall. These structures were designated under By-laws 90‑80 and 92‑123, as amended, resulting in overlapping and outdated designation instruments applying to the same property.

The By-law amends By-law 92-123 to formally include the King Station and the Laskay Hall within the existing designation framework. The amendment updates the legal description and replaces the Statement of Cultural Heritage Value and heritage attributes so that all designated structures on the property are clearly identified and protected in one by‑law, consistent with current requirements of the Ontario Heritage Act.

Appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal

Take notice that any person who objects to the amending by-law may appeal to the Tribunal by giving the Tribunal and the Township Clerk, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the amending by-law and the reasons in support of the objection, accompanied by the fee charged by the Tribunal, on or before May 27, 2026 (within 30 days of this notice). If you wish to appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), forms are available from the Ontario Land Tribunal website at https://olt.gov.on.ca.

Should you have any questions, please contact Michael Maugeri, Planner - Heritage & Development at (905) 833-4067, or by email at mmaugeri@king.ca. The amending By-law is available on our website at www.king.ca.
