The plan provides a comprehensive roadmap to sustainable and efficient transportation to the year 2051
Following comprehensive consultation which included several public engagement opportunities, the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) final report will be presented during the Council Meeting on Monday, Dec. 8.
The TMP will serve as a roadmap to guide the enhancement of a multi-modal transportation network, covering roads, sidewalks, cycling routes and transit services, to the year 2051. It will help to shape how people and goods move within King and supports sustainable, safe and efficient travel options for all ages and abilities.
The plan reflects population growth in the community (to 51,000 by 2051), emerging trends in active transportation, transit and technology, and provincial and regional directions – including Highway 413 and the Bradford Bypass.
Key highlights in the final report include:
- Integrated multi-modal network: Roads, transit, cycling, and walking.
- Active transportation strategy: Safer, connected sidewalks and bike routes.
- Transit improvements: Better links to King City GO and York Region Transit.
- Traffic calming and safety measures.
- Goods movement strategy: balancing economic needs with community safety.
Residents can view the final report through the project webpage on SpeaKING and are encouraged to attend the Council Meeting, virtually or in-person, on Monday, Dec. 8 to hear the final presentation.
