King Township celebrates significant progress in Year Two of 2023-2026 Corporate Strategic Plan

Township of King, Ont. (April 30, 2025) — The Township of King is proud to announce the successful completion of Year Two of its 2023-2026 Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP). The annual progress report, presented to Council on April 29, highlights the substantial advancements made in achieving the Township's strategic objectives.

The Year Two (2024) Annual Progress Report provides a comprehensive overview of the progress made against the 2023-2026 CSP. The report includes both quantitative and qualitative updates on all 29 key results. Notably, 14% of key results are complete, 69% are proceeding as planned, 14% are being monitored and 3% are not scheduled to start until 2026.

The CSP focuses on four priority areas: A Greener Future, Sustainable Asset Management, Complete Communities and Service Excellence. Each priority area has specific objectives and key results that guide the Township's efforts to achieve its goals.

Highlights from the priority areas include:

A Greener Future: King Township finalized and began implementing the Climate Action Plan in September 2024, incorporating public feedback to ensure it reflects community needs. The Township planted 9,045 trees, shrubs, and potted wildflowers and identified priority planting locations for 2025. Additionally, the King Forest Study was finalized in collaboration with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority.

Sustainable Asset Management: The Corporate Asset Management Policy was updated and the Asset Inventory, Condition Assessments and Level of Service 10-year Forecast were continued. Public engagement opportunities were offered to gather feedback for the Parks & Trails Master Plan, Facilities Master Plan, Transportation Master Plan and Active Transportation Strategy.

Complete Communities: Multiple public engagement opportunities were held to gather input for the Official Plan update and Growth Management and Employment Lands Strategies. The Safe Streets Campaign was launched, running for four consecutive weeks and including collaboration with York Regional Police to promote traffic safety.

Service Excellence: The Performance Accountability Program policy was drafted, reinforcing King Township's commitment to transparency. Microsoft Co-Pilot was launched for staff use internally and for public use through the online virtual assistant “Kingsley” on king.ca. Various external-facing forms were transitioned to be fully automated for the public.

The Year Two results are available on the CSP Progress online digital dashboard at king.ca/StrategicPlan. This interactive dashboard allows viewers to navigate into any priority area and review all actions undertaken, the 2024 year-end status and percentage complete for each key result.
