The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and the Her Majesty the Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

The Township of King wishes Their Majesties a healthy and prosperous reign as King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Monarchs of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth realms, including Canada.

People in King are encouraged to participate in events celebrating the Coronation. Messages of congratulation can be shared online through a variety of channels that include:

Coronation Tea in King

The King Heritage & Cultural Centre is hosting a Coronation Tea on Saturday, May 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets are on sale into Friday, May 5. Visit kingheritageandculture.ca/coronation-tea

Province of Ontario Celebrates the Coronation

The Province of Ontario is holding a flag-raising ceremony, 21-gun salute and a drum circle at Queen’s Park at 11:15 a.m. on May 6 to mark the Coronation.  

This will be followed by the ‘Coronation Celebration: A Fun Royal Fair,’ a free event held on the South Lawn of Queen’s Park from noon to 6 p.m.

Extending the celebrations across the province, 10 major cultural attractions and 39 provincial parks will offer free admission for day use. Visit here for a listing of parks and attractions.

Government of Canada Celebrates the Coronation

On May 6 and 7, 2023, the public will be invited to take part in free activities at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. They can visit the Governor General’s residence, grounds and greenhouse, view a recording of the Coronation ceremony, hear musical performances by members of the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, and learn more about the role and history of the Crown in Canada.
