October marks Canadian Library Month, and the King Township Public Library (KTPL) is joining libraries across Canada to raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in our lives. More than just a place to find books, libraries promote cultural awareness, engage in the community, provide educational programs, support freedom of expression and so much more.

To celebrate, KTPL has planned a series of fun activities and programs throughout October, with highlights including: crafts, a BINGO reading challenge, horror story contest, haunted house event and Halloween costume exchange.

Coinciding with the celebration of Ontario Library Week, which runs October 15 to 21, is the expansion of services at the King City branch. Starting October 15, the King City branch will be open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This extended schedule is designed to better serve the community, offering additional opportunities for patrons to access the vast collection of resources, digital content and other services.

KTPL is committed to providing access to the world of knowledge for all residents of King Township. Library memberships are free and open to:

  • Anyone who owns property or lives in King Township
  • Individuals who work in King Township
  • Students attending school in King Township

Obtaining your library card is simple – just bring a valid piece of identification with your name, photo and current address to your nearest KTPL branch in King City, Nobleton or Schomberg.

A KTPL library card offers a multitude of benefits, including the ability to borrow a wide range of materials, check your account remotely via the library’s website, request email notifications for holds, remotely access the entire digital collection—including eBooks, eAudiobooks and databases—and utilize printing services.

For those interested in KTPL’s digital offerings, an eLibrary card grants access to digital content, making it easier than ever to enjoy a vast array of digital resources from anywhere with an internet connection. Anyone wishing to borrow physical items can convert an eLibrary card to a traditional physical one. For more information on how to obtain an eLibrary card or convert it to a physical card, please contact your nearest KTPL branch.
