Recreation program highlights
Preschoolers can play soccer and enjoy hands‑on learning by going on Animal Adventures in the Park. Children and youth can explore nature and challenge themselves in outdoor programs at Cold Creek Conservation Area, including Critter Quest, Low Ropes Wranglers, The Navigator’s Path and Teamworx Dreamworx, which focus on problem‑solving, teamwork and outdoor discovery.
For the sports‑minded, there’s youth volleyball and adult pickleball programs and beginner pickleball leagues, while seniors can enjoy one‑time workshops that focus on self‑care, relaxation and confidence, including gentle wellness experiences like skincare, hand‑and‑foot care and everyday grooming tips, all offered in a friendly, social setting. Families can reconnect with nature together in Bushcraft Forest Foundations, learning practical wilderness skills, or enjoy a day of friendly competition at Target Time Archery.
Swim lessons and aquatic leadership programs
Sunny summer days mean more time in and around the water. King Township’s summer swim lessons help build confidence, safety and lifesaving skills, with daily, bi‑weekly and weekly options available.
The summer schedule for swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses at Zancor Centre is now online at king.ca/aquatics. The facility offers learn-to-swim lessons for all ages, based on the Ontario Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program, which features programming for parent and tots, preschoolers, children, teens and adults. Private lessons are available for children ages three and above, except for those registered in Swimmer 7 to 12 as group work is required in those levels. Aquatic leadership programs to train youth for employment as a swim instructor or lifeguard are also available.
Swim Assessments
Looking to register your child for spring swim lessons but unsure what level would be the best fit? Sign them up for a 15-minute swim assessment ($4) where a swim instructor will guide your child through a series of in-water skills and provide you with a recommendation on the most appropriate swimming level to register your child. For more information visit king.ca/aquatics.
NEW! Swim lessons that fit your child’s summer camp schedule
King Township is offering two‑week summer swim lessons designed with busy parents in mind—and are a perfect add‑on for campers at the Zancor Centre.
Lessons run Monday to Thursday from June 29 to September 3, with group and private options available. Camp staff will escort children to and from their swim lessons during the camp day, so parents have ease of mind and don’t have to juggle drop‑offs and pick-ups. Exception: On Wednesdays, campers attending Cold Creek Conservation Area must be dropped off by parents for their swim lesson. Buses cannot be held on these days.
Need one-on-one support? The Township’s Inclusion Membership is a free program designed to make it easier for individuals and families living with a disability to access one‑to‑one inclusion support in recreation and aquatic programs. Learn more at king.ca/inclusion.
