Nominations can be filed by appointment with King Township’s Clerks division

Township of King, Ont. (April 30, 2026) — Are you interested in running for office in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election? Candidates can file their nomination for office beginning May 1 until August 21 at 2 p.m.

The upcoming election in King Township will be held on Monday, Oct. 26 and filing your nomination for office is the first step that must be completed before your campaign period may begin. Filing must be done in person, or by an appointed agent, by appointment only.

Paper copies of the nomination package are available for pick-up at the King Township Municipal Centre. To schedule your appointment, contact Suzanne Cudnik, Elections Coordinator by phone at 905-833-4069 or email to elections@king.ca.

A list of candidates will be updated and available to view online as nominations are received starting May 1.

King Township is governed by an elected Mayor and six Councillors, each representing one of the six wards. There are four school boards, each represented in King by one Trustee. Candidates for the following offices will be on the 2026 ballot (excluding any acclamations):

  • Mayor
  • Councillor (six positions, one for each of the six wards)
  • Trustee – York Region District School Board
  • Trustee – York Catholic District School Board
  • Trustee – Counseil scolaire Viamonde
  • Trustee – Counseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir

Registering to vote and updating your school support information

It’s never too early to ensure you’re ready to vote ahead of election day. Check and update your voter information at registertovoteon.ca.

While Elections Ontario maintains the Voters List for municipal elections, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) ensures that your school support designation remains current. Update your school support information before June 1 at school-support.mpac.ca.
