Township of King releases official results for 2022 Municipal Elections

Township of King, OntThe Township of King has released the official election results from the Oct. 24, 2022, municipal elections.

Elected positions include Mayor and members of Council for the Township of King, trustees for the York Region District School Board (King Township and City of Vaughan Ward 1) and York Catholic District School Board (Aurora, King and Whitchurch-Stouffville) and Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire Catholique MonAvenir.

The four-year term of office for elected representatives is Nov. 15, 2022, to Nov. 14, 2026.

Of the 20,486 eligible voters in King, 4,383, or 21.4 per cent, voted in the 2022 election, including:

  • Advance voting locations (Oct. 8 to Oct. 22, 2022): 1,728 votes
  • Election Day, Oct. 24: 2,655 votes

In the 2022 King municipal elections, the position of the Mayor was acclaimed, as were the Councillor positions in Wards 2 and 6. The French separate school board trustee was also acclaimed.

The official results and declaration of election candidates has been posted to the Township of King website at king.ca/electionresults.

The first meeting of the newly elected Township of King Council will be held on Nov. 21 at the King Township Municipal Centre. Members of Council will be officially sworn in at the Council Inaugural Ceremony at 6 p.m., followed by a reception.
