This summer, the King Township Public Library opens the door to discovery

Books, experiences and adventures await all ages with reading challenges and free experience passes

This summer, King Township Public Library (KTPL) is turning the page on what a library can be. Sure, it has books — but it also has adventure, discovery and a whole lot of fun in store when you step through the doors of one of its four branches or visit online.

TD Summer Reading Club

First up, the TD Summer Reading Club is designed to keep kids reading and learning all summer long and helps prevent the dreaded “summer slide” — that learning loss that can sneak in during the break. The club is Canada's biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, interests and abilities.

This free program is co-created and delivered by more than 2,000 public libraries across Canada. It celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories and is designed to inspire kids to explore the fun of reading their way—the key to building a life-long love of reading.

The club runs through Thursday, Aug. 14, featuring bi-weekly prize draws and a grand prize at the end. Open to youth up to the age of 18, participants can register in person at any KTPL branch to receive their reading booklet. For every book read and logged, kids earn ballots toward exciting prize draws throughout the summer. For more information, visit kinglibrary.ca/SRC.

Experience Pass

But wait — the KTPL library card also unlocks real-world experiences! Explore local culture, nature and recreation for free with KTPL’s Experience Passes! Use your library card to borrow one of three passes: an Ontario Parks day-use vehicle permit; admission for up to four people to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM); or a RecPass for drop-in programs at Trisan and Zancor Centres.

Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis at all branches—no holds or renewals. Visit your nearest branch with an adult library card to borrow a pass and enjoy a seven-day loan for Ontario Parks and ROM or 10 days for the RecPass. Learn more at kinglibrary.ca/experience-passes.
