Take Notice that the Township of King has received an application for a proposed amendment to the Schomberg and King City Urban Areas Zoning By-law 2017-66, as amended, to facilitate a re-development on the properties outlined below, submitted to the Township of King in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13, as amended.

The Township has determined that the application is considered complete, and the Planning Division has commenced processing the application. A Council Public Planning Meeting will be scheduled and held at a later date, with formal notice being provided pursuant to the statutory requirements of the Planning Act.

If you have received this notice as an owner of a property that contains seven (7) or more residential units, please post this notice in a visible location to all residents of the land.

Proposed Changes

The subject application proposes to amend the King Township Countryside Zoning By-law 2022-053 to facilitate the reconfiguration of the existing lot lines between the two above-described parcels, and to allow for site-specific development standards. The subject sites are located at the southwest corner of the Highway 9 and Weston Road intersection. The following is a breakdown of each property.

4129 Highway 9

The above-referenced property has an area of approximately 27.4 hectares (67.7 acres) and is legally described as Part of Lot 35 of Concession 6, Part 4 of Plan RS65R20372 in the geographic Township of King, Regional Municipality of York. The property contains heavy tree cover and wetlands. This lot is designated as ‘Agricultural Policy Area’ and contains areas designated as ‘Holland Marsh Area.’ This lot is zoned as ‘Environmental Protection (EP)’ by Zoning By-law 2022-053.

17380 - 17400 Weston Road

The above-referenced property has an area of approximately 24.3 hectares (60.1 acres) and is legally described as Part of Lot 36 of Concession 6 in the geographic Township of King, Regional Municipality of York. The property contains heavy tree cover, wetlands, two single detached dwellings, and several accessory structures. This lot is designated as ‘Agricultural Policy Area,’ ‘Oak Ridges Moraine Natural Linkage Area,’ Oak Ridges Moraine Natural Core Area,’ and contains areas designated as ‘Holland Marsh Area.’ This lot is zoned as ‘Agricultural Specialty Area (AS),’ and ‘Oak Ridges Moraine Feature Protection (ORF).’

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Council of the Township of King regarding the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment, you must make a written request to the Clerk of the Township of King, 2585 King Road, King City, ON L7B 1A1, or by email at clerks@king.ca.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Township of King to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of King before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Township of King before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
