In 2026, King Township will receive over $1 million in critical infrastructure funding to help renew and rehabilitate roads, bridges, and water systems.
Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, made the announcement at Schomberg Community Hall on Monday, Nov. 10 alongside Mayor Steve Pellegrini.
The funding will include $948,665 delivered through the 2026 Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) and an additional $317,500 through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) that supports small, northern and rural communities through delivery of critical services, emergency service, public transit and road maintenance.
As the municipality with the smallest population and largest land mass in York Region, the Township faces unique challenges in maintaining its infrastructure.
The annual support has been instrumental in helping King deliver vital infrastructure upgrades in line with the Township’s asset management plan. For example, this provincial investment has assisted with a range of road reconstruction and resurfacing projects including those on 16th Sideroad, Kettleby Road, 19th Sideroad and Dr. Kay Drive. It has also supported culvert replacements along key corridors.
