King Township Public Library’s Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley Nunn-Smith, as the Library’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective Mon., June 28, 2021.

Nunn-Smith has extensive library experience, having spent the past four years as Manager - Content, Access and Innovation with the Aurora Public Library and 10 years with the Halifax Public Library, where she held a variety of positions from Youth Services Librarian to Collection Development Librarian.

"Following an exhaustive search the King Township Public Library Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley Nunn-Smith as the Library's new CEO,” said Library Board Chair Michael Presta. “We look forward to having Ashley join the KTPL team. Her leadership style, forward thinking and broad-based library experience make her the ideal candidate to lead the Library into the future. On behalf of the entire Board we wish Ashley a warm welcome to King Township and look forward to working together to continue the great work of staff to date and create an even better tomorrow.”

Career highlights and accomplishments include playing a key role in branch expansions, outreach to underserved populations, and staff leadership and team-building. While at Halifax Public Library she served as media liaison for all Francophone community relations and was Chair of the regional staff collection development and weeding teams. At Aurora Public Library, she reduced barriers to access and played a vital role in the COVID-era adaptations required for a hugely successful curbside pickup window service.

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Nunn-Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French and a Masters degree in Library and Information Studies from Dalhousie University in Halifax, as well as a Masters in Children’s Literature from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.
