Visit your local library branch to register for reading challenges, STEM activities, crafts and prize draws

Township of King, Ont. (July 7, 2026) When school lets out for the summer, reading can help kids stay sharp and avoid the “summer slide,” the learning loss that can happen when children are away from the classroom. That's why King Township Public Library (KTPL) is inviting children and youth ages 0 to 18 to join the Summer Reading Club, a free program that encourages a love of reading through books, activities, prizes and special programming.

Participants can track the books they read throughout the summer, earn ballots for prize draws and take part in a variety of programs from July through August, including STEM activities, robotics, crafts, storytimes and more.

KTPL is one of more than 2,000 libraries across Canada that delivers the TD Summer Reading Club, Canada's largest bilingual summer reading program. The program encourages children of all ages, interests and abilities to explore the joy of reading while celebrating Canadian authors, illustrators and stories.

How to register

  1. Visit your nearest King Township Public Library branch to register and get your TD Summer Reading Club materials.
  2. Read books, and record the titles in your booklet.
  3. Bring your booklet to your nearest branch to get a ballot for each book read this summer.
  4. Enter your ballots for our regular prize draws.

The more you read, the more chances you have to win!

Prize draws run every two weeks in each branch. The more you read, the more ballots you earn and the more entries you have into each draw.
