The annual report highlights key achievements made through 2025
Township of King, Ont. (April 23, 2026) — King Township is proud to announce the successful completion of Year Three of its 2023-2026 Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP). The annual progress report, presented to Council on April 13, highlights the substantial advancements made in achieving King Township's strategic objectives.
The Year Three (2025) Annual Progress Report provides a comprehensive overview of the progress made against the 2023-2026 CSP. The report includes both quantitative and qualitative updates on all 29 key results. Overall, 41 per cent of key results have been completed, 48 per cent are proceeding as planned, seven per cent are being monitored and four per cent are not scheduled to start until 2027.

Each priority area has specific objectives and key results that guide the Township's efforts to achieve its goals.
Highlights from the priority areas include:
A Greener Future: King Township secured Council endorsement of the Corporate Energy and Management Conservation Plan, advancing actions such as energy-efficient lighting upgrades, installation of smart building systems, and enhanced corporate energy tracking emissions analysis. The Township also supported the opening of Zancor Centre, the first combined aquatics and ice-sports facility in Canada to achieve Zero Carbon Building Design Certification. Additionally, King Township achieved a reduction in corporate greenhouse gas emissions to 1,338.60 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (tCO₂e), representing a nearly 10 per cent decrease from the 2022 baseline, and surpassing the cumulative reduction target of 140 tCO₂e by 2026.
Sustainable Asset Management: Phase 2 of the Asset Management Program was completed building on Phase 1 to deliver a Comprehensive Asset Management Plan. The Township completed a comprehensive Stormwater Operations and Maintenance Manual, establishing standardized requirements for how stormwater systems are operated, maintained and prioritized across the municipality. Additionally, King Township advanced five efforts on five major master plans shaping the future of parks, facilities, transportation and infrastructure throughout King.
Complete Communities: King Township advanced the Official Plan Review through extensive policy development and engagement, including the release of 16 discussion and policy direction papers, six public open houses, and a Council report seeking direction on key policy areas. The Township completed the development of a comprehensive Age-Friendly Action Plan, earned provincial recognition as an Age-Friendly Community by the Government of Ontario and achieved a 71 per cent increase in age-friendly programming in 2025. As part of the annual “Safe Streets Start Here” traffic calming campaign, King partnered with York Regional Police to host an e-bike and e-scooter safety event, and also held a sticker design contest for children and youth up to 15 years of age. The contest received over 85 submissions across three age categories (five and under, six to 11, and 12 to 15), with finalist designs shared through King Township’s social media channels for community voting, generating 950 votes and more than 17,000 views.
Service Excellence: King Township established the Corporate Performance Accountability Program, which sets out a consistent, organization-wide framework for accountability across the organization, reinforcing King Township’s commitment to transparency. The Digital Transformation Framework and Data Masterplan was developed and launched, providing a clear roadmap for modernizing service delivery. Additionally, the Township completed the development of a comprehensive Customer Experience (CX) Strategy, launched two new Service King locations, and expanded digital communications, self-services tools and online resources, including a redeveloped bi-weekly e-newsletter, expanded CityView and Ask King services, and an enriched knowledge base for the virtual assistant “Kingsley” on king.ca.
