Art exhibits and a crafting workshop celebrate self-expression and self-love
Township of King, Ont. (June 4, 2026) —King Township is marking PRIDE Month with a colourful and creative lineup of exhibitions and hands-on activities at the King Heritage & Cultural Centre (KHCC), inviting the community to come together in celebration of diversity, inclusion and self-expression.
Throughout June and into the summer, the KHCC, located at 2920 King Road, will feature a mix of art, storytelling and interactive experiences that reflect and celebrate the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
A Rainbow of Artifacts
Running now through August 1, A Rainbow of Artifacts micro-exhibit located in the museum invites visitors to explore a curated display of vibrant objects from the KHCC collection. Each piece reflects the colours of the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag, offering a unique way to connect heritage with the values of diversity and inclusion.
Limited-time exhibitions
Museum visitors can also experience two special, limited-time exhibitions from returning artists featured in last year’s Pride art exhibition Today We Slay. Indigenous artist-educator Gerald Wayne McLeod brings a dynamic mixed-media exhibition to the gallery from June 17 to July 11, while Ontario-based artist Ben Benedict presents Variations in Landscape from July 15 to 25, showcasing expressive works that explore perspective and place.
All exhibitions are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the King Heritage & Cultural Centre. Admission is free, and donations are welcome.
Nights at the Museum: Craft with PRIDE
Youth ages 10 to 16 can design their own zines, bracelets, and buttons inspired by themes of acceptance, love and identity on Thursday, June 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. The crafting workshop is a safe, inclusive space where young people can explore creativity and share ideas; parents and guardians are welcome to stay for coffee and tea. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $10.
