King Township will be sharing the final building and amenities designs for the new recreation centre via virtual Public Information Centres (PICs) in the coming weeks.
The recreation centre was designed based on information gathered as part of the 2019 Facility Services Master Plan.
In late 2019 and early 2020 staff went out to various locations and met with residents to gather feedback. We are happy that we have been able to incorporate many of the suggestions we heard, including a larger pool and second ice pad thanks to the recent Federal and Provincial funding announcement.
The current design includes:
- Two NHL sized ice surfaces
- A six-lane, 25-metre lap pool and separate leisure pool
- An indoor walking track
- A multipurpose athletic and fitness space
- Community spaces
Once finalized, we will publish the dates and times for the virtual PICs on www.king.ca, Twitter, Facebook and in the King Weekly Sentinel.
