Featuring festive treats, face painting, crafts, music and Santa

Township of King, Ont. — The countdown is on as the Township prepares to host its annual Nobleton Tree Lighting Ceremony, presented by event sponsor Rafat. The free, family-friendly event takes place at the Nobleton Gazebo, located at 8 Sheardown Drive, on Sunday, Dec. 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature selfies with Santa, face painting, holiday crafts, musical performances, and festive treats.

Joyful Christmas carols – sung by students from King City Secondary School, Nobleton Public School, and Aria School of Music – will fill the air with holiday cheer. Attendees can sample festive delicacies such as apple cider and roasted chestnuts, homemade and served by local community groups, and sip on complimentary hot beverages provided by Tim Hortons.

The highlight of the event will be the lighting of a majestic 45-foot Colorado Blue spruce with over 1,000 feet of clear and multi-colored LED lights, topped with an LED starburst tree topper. The tree lighting ceremony takes place at 7 p.m.

To ensure everyone has a happy holiday season, a small crew from King Fire and Emergency Services will be on-site at the event to accept donations of non-perishable food items or new, unwrapped toys. The Christmas in King volunteer organization will distribute the collection to families in need to share holiday cheer. Donations can also be dropped off to Firehouse 34, located at 2045 King Road in the King City, until noon on Friday, Dec. 22.
