Attend a Public Open House on September 25 at Zancor Centre

Township of King, Ont. (September 9, 2025) —Share your thoughts about King’s multi-modal transportation network and mobility opportunities, as well as waste and organics collection, during a Public Open House on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Zancor Centre, located at 1600 15th Sideroad in King City.

Transportation Master Plan

The Township of King is undertaking an update to the 2020 Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to guide the enhancement of a multi-modal transportation network, covering roads, sidewalks, cycling routes and transit services, to the year 2051.

Over the course of the project the Township has engaged with the public and identified stakeholders to provide input on the direction, processes, and outcomes of the TMP. One of the main goals of the TMP is to continue to support a growing population and economy and promote a variety of travel modes.

At this third Public Open House, anyone is welcome to attend and learn about the Transportation Master Plan project. At this meeting, the Township will:

  • Provide an overview of the TMP study and development process;
  • Share key feedback received from the first two open houses held on October 29, 2024 and April 15, 2025;
  • Share the evaluation of the five network alternatives and the preliminary recommendations;
  • Seek feedback on recommended active transportation strategy update, goods movement, parking, road safety, traffic calming, transportation technology and emerging trends policies;
  • Gather feedback on the phasing of the recommendations, future studies, any associated costs, and what the Township's role will be; and
  • Identify next steps in the TMP study process.

This will be a drop-in style session without in-person formal presentations. An online presentation will be available for review before the meeting. Attendees can ask questions and provide feedback at their own pace.

Pre-registration online(External link) is recommended but not required to help King Township staff best prepare for the Public Open House.

Waste Collection Contract

King Township (along with all six towns in York Region) is currently reviewing its waste collection contract, expiring in 2028, and is inviting residents to be part of the conversation. This Public Open House is an opportunity to share your feedback on:

  • Your experience with current waste collection service
  • Automated cart collection for garbage and organics
  • What you would like to see in the next contract

Your input will help shape how waste and organics collection is delivered in the future.
