Apply by March 15 for the opportunity to work this July and August

Township of King, Ont.— If you’re a young artist or chef, a challenge course climber, sports superstar or science wiz, you have a teachable skill!  Get paid to do what you love by working as a summer camp counsellor, coordinator, or director this July and August at recreation facilities located in the communities of King City, Nobleton and Schomberg.

Gain valuable leadership skills that will stand out on your resume or college/university application – all while getting paid to play with kids and forge summer camp memories that will stay with them forever. You’ll also make friends and (of course) money, earning competitive wages that range from $17 to $20.50 per hour, depending on the position.

We're looking for candidates with interests or expertise in a variety of areas, including:

  • history and science
  • outdoor nature education (challenge course or climbing experience, orienteering, hiking)
  • creative arts
  • preschool / early childhood education
  • cooking and baking
  • sports (skateboarding, hockey, badminton, basketball, gymnastics, archery, mountain biking, frisbee, volleyball and soccer)

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children
  • Social Insurance Number
  • Standard First Aid & CPR-C
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check (To obtain upon hire)
  • HIGH FIVE®: Principles of Healthy Child Development (course offered by King Township or High FIVE National)

Qualified candidates will be contacted for a virtual interview. For Camp Counsellor and Inclusion Camp Counsellor positions, candidates will also be required to attend an in-person group interview, where they’ll lead two games and participate in games led by competing candidates.

Camp locations include: King City Arena and Seniors Centre, Nobleton Arena, the Trisan Centre, Schomberg Hall, King Township Municipal Centre, King Heritage and Cultural Centre, and Cold Creek Conservation Area. The camp day runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with flexible drop-off for campers starting at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ending at 5 p.m.
