Free apple cider, candy challenge, Halloween crafts and more at the King Township Public Library
Township of King, Ont. (Oct. 16, 2025) — Celebrate literacy, creativity, and community connection during Ontario Public Library Week from October 19 to 25, falling in the middle of Canadian Library Month. This year’s theme “Libraries are for Life”, recognizes the vital role libraries play in the lives of Canadians, including King Township residents. Visit the King Township Public Library (KTPL) throughout the month of October for reading, learning, and lots of fun!
The KTPL has planned a variety of events and programs to celebrate both Canadian Library Month and Ontario Public Library Week, ranging from fall crafts to a candy challenge. Residents can also enjoy a refreshing glass of apple cider when visiting their local branch anytime throughout the week.
Ontario Public Library Week Events
October 19 to 25 brings an exciting assortment of free events to all three KTPL branches. Highlights include:
Candy Counting Contest: Guess how many candies are in the jar at your local branch; winner takes the jar.
3D Printed Ghost Bookmarks: Find a 3D printed ghost at the library and keep it if you spot one.
Monster Windsock: Kids aged 4-8 can make monster windsocks.
Bingo: Pick up a bingo sheet and join library-themed bingo all month; winner announced in November.
Halloween Frankenbears: Teens can sew Frankenstein-style teddy bears.
Born to Read: Stories and songs for infants 0–2 with caregivers.
Toddling to Read: Activities for toddlers 18 months–3 years with caregivers.
Project Kindness: Make baby hats or Fidget Muffs for charity.
Online Library Basics: Beginners’ class on library online resources; laptops available, open to all.
Dungeons & Dragons Adventure: Bring your dice to the Dungeons and Dragons Adventure Afternoons, an ongoing adventure that will carry from week to week. Kids aged 8+ can bring their own character or visit the Make-It Lab to create a new one.
King City Spice Club: Learn about and sample a featured spice; adults only.
Book Art Workshop: Seniors’ craft session making book art.
P.A. Day Spooktacular Beads: Children ages 4–12 create Halloween bead crafts and keychains.
FreePlay Collective: Ages 0–6 enjoy dress-up, crafts, games, and books during this drop-in program.
Make-it Lab: All ages can try tech like the 3D printer, robotics, and more.

Experience Pass
Libraries offer more than literature and in-house resources, access exciting experiences both in King and beyond, with Experience Passes. Use your library card to borrow one of three passes: an Ontario Parks day-use vehicle permit; admission for up to four people to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM); or a RecPass for drop-in programs at Trisan and Zancor Centres. Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis at all branches—no holds or renewals. Learn more at kinglibrary.ca/experience-passes.

KTPL is a vibrant, multi-branch system committed to providing universal access to information, learning and programming that spans early literacy, teen engagement and adult learning. With branches in King City, Nobleton and Schomberg, KTPL offers a wide range of traditional and innovative services for residents of all ages. Each branch provides access to books, digital resources, public computers, Wi-Fi, mobile and 3D printing, study spaces and meeting rooms. Library cardholders can also access tablets, personal device support and a variety of in-person and online programs.
The Ansnorveldt branch offers 24/7 self-service hold pickups and returns, accessible with a registered security fob. Free KTPL library cards are available for anyone who lives, owns property, works or attends school in the Township of King. Photo identification with your current address is required for registration.
