With key public health and health system indicators continuing to improve, the Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, is cautiously and gradually easing public health measures.

The Province released information on Monday, February 14 outlining the progressive easing of these restrictions. The details are included in this news release, Ontario Moving to Next Phase of Reopening on February 17.

Starting February 17

The maximum capacity at Township facilities changed starting Thursday, February 17. Up to 50 people can gather for indoor organized public events and there is no limit for outdoor organized public events.

There is a 50 per cent capacity allowed in spectator areas of facilities used for sports and recreational fitness activities. There are no capacity limits in settings where proof of vaccination is required, including non-spectator areas of sports and recreational fitness facilities, gyms and meeting and event spaces.

Starting March 1

If public health and health care indicators continue to improve, as of March 1, there will no longer be capacity limits on indoor public settings and proof of vaccination will not be required for customers or visitors.

Protective measures, such as wearing masks or other face coverings will continue. The passive screening of customers and visitors will be in place.

Proof of Vaccine Requirement

The current vaccine requirements, including QR code, will remain in place until March 1. After that time, if public health and health care indicators continue to improve, proof of vaccine will not be required for program participants or visitors to publicly accessible areas of Township facilities.

Mask and Physical Distancing

Provincial regulations require that masks and physical distancing are required in Township facilities. Handwashing and sanitizing will continue to help keep us safe and healthy.

Council and Committee Meetings

The Township of King’s Committee of the Whole and Township Council meetings will continue to be available virtually. Visit www.king.ca/meetings.
