King Township has road safety and responsible celebrating top of mind ahead of the winter holiday season. Overnight parking on Township streets and at municipally-operated facilities – including all community centres, arenas and libraries in King City, Nobleton and Schomberg – will be permitted on the following days:

  • Sunday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve)
  • Monday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day)
  • Sunday, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve)
  • Monday, Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day)

In light of this, parking tickets will not be issued on the above dates.

This means that winter parking restrictions, which prohibit on-street parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m to allow for snow clearing, will not be enforced on these days. In the event of a snowfall, roads and sidewalks will be cleared as best possible. Additionally, on-street parking permits traditionally required for overnight guests will not be required on these days. We kindly request that the public be courteous and avoid blocking driveways or parking in prohibited fire routes.

The Township would also like to remind residents that York Region Transit will offer a New Year’s Eve service, where riders can travel for free after 7 p.m., with extended late night service on select routes. For more information about this, visit yrt.ca/ServiceChanges
