2022 Municipal Election Notice of Election

On Monday, October 24th, 2022, municipal elections will be held in the Township of King for the offices of:

  1. ONE COUNCILLOR for each of WARDS one, three, four and five (Councillors for Ward 2 and Ward 6 acclaimed)
  2. ONE TRUSTEE for each of following Boards: (Conseil scolaire catholique Mon Avenir acclaimed)
  • York Region District School Board
  • York Catholic District School Board
  • Conseil scolaire Viamonde

Voter Identification

A Voter Notification Card will be mailed to you late September, advising where you can vote.  If you do not receive this card by early October, contact the Clerk’s Department at 905-833-5321. 

You need ID to vote, with or without a Voter Notification Card.  ID must show your name and address.  Photo ID is not required.  Accepted identification showing your name and address include:

  • An Ontario Driver’s License
  • An Ontario Health Card (if your name and address are printed on the card)
  • A mortgage, lease, or rental agreement
  • An insurance policy
  • A credit card statement
  • A bill for hydro, water, gas, telephone, etc…

Voting by Proxy

If you are eligible to vote but are not able to vote on any of the available voting days, you may appoint a proxy to vote for you by completing a Proxy Form. Your proxy must be someone who is eligible to vote in the Township of King. 

You can obtain a proxy form at the Clerk’s Department during regular business hours and must return it completed, in person before Election Day, with identification of the person voting for you.
