By-law Set Fines

Set fines are defined under the Provincial Offences Act as "the amount specified for an offence under section 91.1 by the Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice or by a regional senior judge of that court for the purpose of proceedings under Part I or II".

This means that if someone does not comply with a provision of a Township by-law, they may be liable to pay a set fine. For example, the price of a parking ticket is the set fine for that provision of the parking by-law.

Report Number CL-2015-18 describes more about set fines as part of enforcement process improvements.

The set fines for some of the most frequently requested by-laws are listed below for reference purposes. Consolidated schedules of set fines have been prepared for convenience of reference only and do not constitute the official version of the set fines.
