King Environmental Action Team

Hosted in partnership with the King Environmental Action Team, this free community event celebrates the deep agricultural roots that continue to shape King Township today. With more than 41,000 acres of farmland and nearly 240 local farms, agriculture remains a vital part of the community’s identity and economy. Set against this rich backdrop—and in close proximity to the Holland Marsh, one of Ontario’s most productive growing regions—the market brings together residents, farmers, artisans and local restaurants in a vibrant, welcoming setting filled with fresh, local flavours and seasonal finds.

Calling all farm stands, local produce growers, artisans, handmade goods vendors, and food producers! King Township invites you to take part in the first-ever Harvest King Fall Farmers Market. This event offers vendors a unique opportunity to connect directly with residents, attract new customers and build brand awareness in King Township and beyond. 

Vendors get a 10x10 foot space at the venue from setup (8 to 9:15 a.m.) to teardown (2 to 3 p.m.) on the day of the event. Fees to secure a spot are $25 (plus HST) for businesses; spots are free for designated Township community group affiliates. Six- and eight-foot tables are available to rent for $15 (plus HST) per table. Applications close on Friday, Sept. 4.

Vendors selling food are also required to complete a York Region Public Health vendor application form. Only complete and signed applications will be considered. All vendors must be fully set up by 9:30 a.m. on the day of the event.

The King Environmental Action Team (KEAT) and the Township of King hosted it's first ever Community Energy Expo. The expo focused on community-driven energy solutions and home retrofits. The day featured five speakers from innovative companies and organizations showcasing alternative energy technologies and practical solutions designed to enhance energy efficiency at home and across our community. In addition to our esteemed speakers, there were a diverse range of booths featuring representatives from energy companies, solar, and heat pump companies, local sustainability leaders, grant education, and kid-friendly coding activities.

Residents gathered at the Schomberg Horticultural Society’s plant sale for an engaging and educational planting demonstration led by the Lake Simcoe South Master Gardeners. Participants learned to plant a thriving heirloom tomato surrounded by smart companion plants – all in one container. They also explored sustainabe practices such as maintaining healthy soil, mindful watering natural pest management techniques can boost plant resilience and flavor. 

The event was organized by the King Environmental Action Team in partnership with the Schomberg Horticultural Society.

Community members gathered at the Nobleton & King City Garden Club plant sale for an informative talk and hands-on planting demonstration led by the Lake Simcoe South Master Gardeners. Participants created beginner-friendly summer planters featuring native plants, herbs, and flowering annuals designed to support pollinators and encourage ecological gardening practices. The workshop introduced residents to the benefits of native species, insect interactions, and sustainable gardening techniques.
