From electronic recycling events and yard sales to community clean-up initiatives and gardening workshops, there's a plethora of activities planned to welcome the warmer season. Residents are encouraged to help preserve our natural surroundings while fostering a strong sense of community by participating in any of the following Township-led initiatives. Cold Creek Community Tree Planting in Partnership with Ontario Streams
Date: Saturday, September 20
Location: Cold Creek Conservation Area, Education Centre parking lot, 14125 11th Concession, Nobleton

For several years, with the help of volunteers like you, Ontario Streams has been controlling Invasive Buckthorn trees and replanting these areas with native trees and shrubs at the Cold Creek Conservation Area. Replacing this invasive species with native stock helps to improve biodiversity by providing habitat for wildlife and providing suitable habitat for understory plants. Join Ontario Streams on September 20th as we plant 400 more trees and shrubs at the Cold Creek Conservation Area.

Water-Wise Nature Walk & Free Native Plant Giveaway

National Forest Week: Sapling Giveaway (September 21-27)
In celebration of National Forest Week, pick up a free sapling to plant in your yard! Saplings will be available for pick-up from the reception desks at the King Township Municipal Centre, Zancor Centre, & Trisan Centre from September 21-27 during operating hours while supplies last. There is a limit of one tree per person. Please note that pick-up from the Municipal Centre will only be available from September 22-26.
Forest Walk & Tree Printing

The approximately 45 minute hike is perfect for nature lovers of all ages who are eager to explore various ecosystems. After the walk, leaf with your own unique print created in a fun tree printing activity.

World Migratory Bird Day - Bird Feeder Building Activity

The early bird gets the worm, and seeds and berries! Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day and learn about the birds that call Cold Creek Conservation Area home in a guided hike. Help us deck the trails with seeds and berries by hanging pinecone bird feeders along the trail, all supplies will be provided. This is a family-friendly event.

Community Electronic Recycling Event

Location: Zancor Centre parking lot, 1600 15th Sideroad, King City

Do you have old electronics collecting dust at home? Bring your unwanted electronics to the Community Electronic Recycling to ensure they are disposed of safely, recycled and kept out of landfill. Residents will be required to unload their own items. Collection will be outside of the King Township Municipal Centre in the parking lot. There is no cost for patrons disposing of their electronics during the Community Electronic Recycling Event.
Items Accepted at Community Electronic Recycling Events
Televisions, monitors, desk tops, phones, printing, copying and scanning equipment, stereos, speakers, digital media, video game consoles, projectors, microphones, cameras, calculators, lighting, power tools, small appliances, stationary and portable audio/video systems.
Please protect your privacy by cleaning all personal data and removing batteries from e-waste items prior to dropping them off. For more information on how to wipe your device Click Here.
Battery Disposal will be available. All standard single-use batteries are accepted including AA, D, 9V, button cell etc. Rechargeable batteries are not currently accepted. For safety purposes, please place leaking batteries in a sealed plastic bag, and cover the terminals of lithium batteries with tape before dropping them off in the bins.

Powering King: Community Energy Expo

Join the King Environmental Action Team (KEAT) and the Township of King for our first ever Community Energy Expo. This expo is a dynamic and engaging event that will focus on community-driven energy solutions and environmental sustainability. The day will feature five speakers from innovative companies and organizations showcasing alternative energy technologies and practical solutions designed to enhance energy efficiency at home and across our community. In addition to our esteemed speakers, there will be a diverse range of booths featuring representatives from energy companies, solar, geothermal and heat pump companies, local sustainability leaders, grant education, and kid-friendly coding activities. With our wide array of booths and speakers there will be learning opportunities for everyone!
