Design a unique replica of the King Township 2026 Heritage Award–winning property

Township of King, Ont. (June 10, 2026) Are you an artist inspired by history, architecture and place? King Township is inviting creatives of all disciplines to design an original artistic replica of the property that will be selected as the 2026 Heritage Award recipient for which nominations open this summer.

This is your opportunity to capture the character, detail and story of one of King’s most celebrated historic properties—and interpret it through your own artistic lens.

Presented annually by the King Township Heritage Advisory Committee, the Heritage Award recognizes properties—buildings, structures and streetscapes—that demonstrate excellence in conservation and stewardship. This includes the thoughtful preservation, maintenance, restoration and/or enhancement of heritage buildings and their ongoing contribution to the character and identity of King Township’s villages and communities. Most recently, the Schomberg Pub & Patio, originally built around 1880 as the Dr. Dillane House, was named the 2025 King Township Heritage Award recipient for its well-preserved Victorian architecture and lasting contribution to Schomberg’s historic Main Street.

King Township is looking for a creative visionary to transform the winning property into a one-of-a-kind artwork that celebrates both its heritage value and its enduring presence in the Township.

All artistic mediums are welcome, including:

  • Ink
  • Graphite
  • Watercolour
  • Acrylic
  • Oil
  • Mixed media
  • Photography
  • Textile
  • Sculpture

Applicants must submit:

  • A sample of their work
  • Proposed medium and dimensions
  • Cost estimate for original artwork and one high-definition digital scan
  • Estimated timeline to complete the final piece

Apply by Friday, Sept. 4 at king.ca/heritage.

This is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting artistic legacy—celebrating King’s built heritage while connecting its past with its future through creative expression. The winning property will be honoured with your artwork at a Council meeting later this year.
