Township of King, Ont. (June 1, 2026) — From murals to meaningful public spaces—be part of what’s next in King’s cultural landscape. King Township is seeking passionate, forward-thinking individuals to help shape King’s creative future through the inaugural Public Art Committee. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Jun. 30 at 4:30 p.m.
In this role, you’ll work with staff to help bring King’s Public Art Program to life – actively guiding projects, informing policy, and engaging the community, all while helping to build a dynamic, inclusive public art collection that reflects and strengthens King’s unique identity.
The committee is seeking applicants who:
- Are passionate about arts, culture, and placemaking
- Represent diverse backgrounds and perspectives
- Have experience in visual arts, architecture, design, heritage, or related fields (preferred but not required)
- Are interested in contributing to inclusive, community-driven projects
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Advising on the planning and implementation of public art initiatives
- Reviewing proposed project scopes, artist submissions, and agreements
- Participating in artist selection and jurying processes
- Providing input on acquisitions, donations, and de-accessioning of artwork
- Supporting outreach, promotion, and community engagement initiatives
- Identifying annual priorities, including themes, locations, and project opportunities
Meetings will take place quarterly with additional meetings for active projects being scheduled as required. Interested applicants must be willing to participate in project reviews, artist selection panels, and occasional engagement events.
This is an opportunity to get involved and play a meaningful role in King Township’s cultural future – championing local artists and creative innovation, helping to create inspiring public spaces, and fostering a vibrant community identity reflecting King’s proud heritage.
