Updates take effect June 1 following a community‑informed usage review
Township of King, Ont. (May 13, 2026) — Whether it’s borrowing a favourite book, attending a program or finding a quiet place to study or work, residents rely on their local library in different ways. Following a detailed review of community use, the King Township Public Library (KTPL) is updating the hours of operations at the Nobleton and Schomberg branches with the following changes coming into effect on Monday, June 1:
- The Nobleton branch will now close at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.
- The Schomberg branch will now close at 5 p.m. on Thursdays and will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.

A comprehensive usage review that began in October 2025 examined annual door count statistics and captured hourly user visits at each branch; included a digital and paper user experience survey that received 342 responses; and a month-long hourly observation of user activity within primary usage zones.
This analysis and community feedback provided valuable insight into how residents are using each branch, with the new hours aligning with KTPL’s commitment to maximizing services, staffing and spaces, leveraging available funding and ensuring staff are equipped with the proper skills and resources to better serve the community.
Unlock more with a KTPL library card
The KTPL library card is your all‑access pass to learning, creativity, and connection. With your membership, you can borrow books, movies, music, and audiobooks, access online resources and databases, and enjoy programs for all ages—from reading buddies, book clubs, workshops and more. Free KTPL library cards are available for anyone who lives, owns property, works or attends school in King Township. Photo identification with your current address is required for registration.
Your membership also offers more than literature and in-house resources. The Beyond Books collection offers access to the Out of the Box collection (i.e. STEM, music, exploration, baking and other hobby equipment), Yoto players and exciting experiences both in King and beyond, with Experience Passes. Use your library card to borrow one of four passes: an Ontario Parks day-use vehicle permit; admission for up to four people to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM); admission for up to two adults and four children at the Toronto Zoo; or a RecPass for drop-in programs at Trisan Centre and Zancor Centre. Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis at all branches—no holds or renewals. Learn more at kinglibrary.ca/experience-passes.
