The recently renovated 175-year-old heritage building offers rustic charm with modern convenience

Township of King, Ont. (May 6, 2026) — Something old, something new, something borrowed—and something blue! The historic King Christian Church has opened its charming (blue) doors as a new location for civil marriage ceremonies. Located at the King Heritage & Cultural Centre, 2920 King Road in King City, the church now joins the King Township Municipal Centre as an official venue where couples can be married. Civil ceremonies at both locations are officiated by the Township’s Clerks division.

Recently restored to its original glory, King Christian Church is an exquisitely preserved designated heritage building that offers an intimate and elegant setting for your wedding ceremony. The space provides a unique blend of rustic charm and modern convenience with its traditional architecture, soft natural light, and serene interior, creating a sense of timeless romance. Surrounded by heritage buildings, gardens and galleries, the deconsecrated church offers a truly memorable experience for couples and guests alike.

Ceremonies are available to book at the King Christian Church taking place on the first and third Friday of each month between the hours of noon to 4 p.m.

What your booking includes:

  • Site visit at the King Christian Church followed by a mandatory 30-minute pre-consultation meeting.
  • Formal civil marriage ceremony officiated by the Clerks division (typically 15 to 20 minutes in length).
  • Maximum guest count of 30 people.
  • One-hour access to the grounds for photography.
