These jobs are ideal for college or university students who want to earn competitive pay and work full-time hours this summer.
Available positions include a Seasonal Parks Worker, Parks Summer Student, Environmental Field Labourer and Outdoor Program Facilitators. The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. on March 13. Job postings can be viewed at king.ca/employment.
Parks Seasonal Worker and Parks Summer Student
The Parks Seasonal Worker and the Parks Summer Student assist with the day-to-day maintenance and operation of Township parks and parks facilities including trails, playgrounds, turf areas, landscaped areas, and park fixtures. Duties include the daily watering, weeding and maintenance of floral displays, new plantings and planters, as well as collecting litter. The salary for the Seasonal Parks Worker is $19.56 to $23.80 per hour. The hourly wage for the Parks Summer Student is $17.70.
Seasonal Environmental Field Labourer (four and six month contracts)
The Environmental Field Labourer facilitates community tree planting events by conducting site preparation and planting native trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Responsibilities include conducting ongoing maintenance of restoration planting sites and Township gardens by trimming, watering, mulching and weeding, mowing and invasive species removal. The position also helps with community environmental stewardship initiatives, events and nature-based programs, and conducts tree planting demonstrations to volunteers and youth. The salary range is $20.34 to $22 per hour.
Outdoor Program Facilitator (four and six month contracts)
The Outdoor Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing and facilitating nature education and recreation programs, including challenge course facilitation at Cold Creek Conservation Area for school groups and community groups. This position also facilitates programs at offsite park/trail or in-school locations throughout King Township. The pay rate is $20.25 to $21.75 per hour.
