What is TerraCycle?
TerraCycle is a recycling solution for items that local recycling services typically don’t accept. Materials that are determined to be recyclable are collected in designated TerraCycle boxes. The items in the boxes are then sorted based on material and cleaned then sent to third party partners to process the material into usable forms. After they recycle the waste into raw materials, it sold to manufacturing companies who produce the end product.
TerraCycle in King
In 2026 King Township will be piloting the use of two types of TerraCycle boxes: one collecting pens, pencils and markers, and one collecting printer ink and toner cartridges. The goal is to encourage residents to drop off the accepted supplies while visiting the libraries.
