Farm 911 / Emily Project and Emergency Access Point Program

The Township of King is pleased to partner with the Regional Municipality of York and Farm 911: The Emily Project on a voluntary safety initiative to encourage owners of large agricultural or vacant rural land to have a unique number and yellow sign assigned to their property emergency access points or farm field entrances.  The installation of a unique number sign will assist first responders in quickly locating rural property farm entrances in emergency situations.  There is no cost to the landowner for the number sign and pole.

All assigned unique field access point numbers will be identified on a map and numbers will be circulated to emergency services (King Fire & Emergency Services, York Regional Police and York Paramedics). Vacant properties assigned a unique number under the Farm 911 - Emily Project, will also be assigned a municipal civic address for official identification purposes, if one does not already exist.

Completed applications will be reviewed by Township staff, and applicants will be contacted upon completion of review.

It is important to note that the emergency access point unique number is not an address and should not be used as a mailing address for the property.  It is a field access point/farm entrance location only. Please ensure that farm employees and family members are aware of farm and field locations and the unique numbers assigned to the property.

  • The unique number assigned to the field access point is not to be considered as an entrance permit for the location.
  • The Township of King will arrange for sign locates and installation of the post and sign.
  • The ownerand/or tenant is responsible to ensure signage remains visible and is maintained.
Farm 911 Emily Program SignOne Farm 911 field access point (EAP) unique number will be assigned per existing access point. For large properties with multiple access points, separate Farm 911 - EAP numbers may be assigned to individual access points on the same property to improve ease of identification. This requirement will be considered by when reviewing the Farm 911 - EAP application.
