The Municipal Elections for Township of King Municipal Council and District School Board Trustee positions will be held on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022.
Those interested in running for Council or School Board positions must file nomination papers. Nominations open May 2, 2022, with the nomination period ending on Aug. 19, 2022, Nomination Day.
Nomination papers may be filed in person or by an agent by appointment with the Township’s Returning Officer. Appointments are available at the King Township Municipal Centre, 2585 King Rd., between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during regular business days and between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2022.
Filing of nomination papers must be scheduled by appointment. Contact the Clerks Department at 905-833-5321 or election2022@king.ca to set up an appointment.
Nominations will be accepted for the following offices:
- Mayor
- One Councillor for each of Wards One to Six
- One Trustee for the York Region District School Board (filed with the Township of King)
- One Trustee for the York Catholic District School Board (filed with the Town of Aurora)
- One Trustee for Counseil scolaire Viamonde (filed with the City of Vaughan)
- One Trustee for Counseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (filed with the City of Vaughan)
Nominations may be submitted by submitting the following items with the Office of the Clerk:
- Nominations on the prescribed form (Nomination Paper – Form 1)
- The prescribed nomination filing fee of $200 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, certified cheque, money order or debit.
- For Mayor and Councillor candidates, at least 25 endorsement signatures from eligible electors along with their nomination papers (Endorsement of Nomination – Form 2).
