Marriage Licence and Civil Marriage Ceremonies

The Clerks Division is pleased to provide marriage licence and civil marriage ceremony services by appointment only. In the Province of Ontario, a Marriage Licence is required to get married.

To obtain a marriage licence we now offer a convenient online application in partnership with Service Ontario. Please complete the online form by clicking on the 'Apply for a Marriage Licence and Book an Appointment for Pickup' button below,  and submit the required documentation through the ServiceOntario website.   Please note that a marriage licence is only valid for 90 days and is non-refundable, so please book your appointment accordingly.

Marriage License Application Process

  1. Complete the Online ServiceOntario Marriage Licence Application: Click on 'Apply for a Marriage Licence' above to submit your application. If you have not uploaded two pieces of valid, government issued identification online, please bring two pieces of valid government-issued ID to your appointment for each applicant. We do not accept photocopies or electronic images. All identification must also be in English or must be accompanied by a certified translation.

  2. Schedule Your Appointment: Once completed, the 'Apply for a Marriage Licence' process above will allow you to schedule an appointment to pickup and pay for your marriage licence.

IMPORTANT: Before applying for your licence, please ensure you have confirmed a date and location for your marriage ceremony.
