Questions, Concerns, Complaints, and Investigations
The Township of King Building Division works with, and relies on, the public to identify construction and demolition of structures which may not be in accordance with the regulations in the Building Code Act of Ontario and/or the Ontario Building Code. If there are works occurring for which a building permit is required and has not been obtained, or works that are being done not in accordance with the approvals given, a formal complaint can be submitted online through CityView Portal.
Interactive Mapping Tools
The Building Division has developed two interactive maps to provide transparency and public self-serve access to information about investigations relating to Building Division files.
The Building Permit Map provides information regarding building permit applications in progress and building permit issuance.
The Building Code Enforcement Investigation Map provides information regarding complaints and Code violation investigations.
Not seeing what you are looking for on the map?
It is possible that you may not see an identification on the map for an application in progress, or permit issued, for work you see occurring in the community. Although the information displayed within these maps are updated regularly and reflects the status as of the posted dated, it does not represent real-time updates.
We encourage you to use the maps as your first resource, however if you believe that works are occurring without the required approvals from the Building Division, you may submit a formal complaint though CityView Portal. Before submitting a complaint, it is important to understand what does and does not require a building permit. For more information on the type of construction that requires a permit, check out the Township's Building Permit Application page.
Once a complaint submission is made staff will review the received complaint and verify how to proceed with the information. If additional information is required, staff will contact the complainant directly. As part of the complaint verification and investigation process, the Building Division will conduct the necessary investigations and, if applicable, will work directly with the legal owner of the property in question to obtain compliance. Status updates on an active file cannot be provided to the public or complainant.
Note: Only concerns related to Building Division matters will be addressed through the Building Complaint process. Please ensure you have completed all the required fields in your online submission as incomplete submissions will not be processed.
