Registration opens at 7 a.m. on Mar. 8

Bring on spring (and sure, why not summer too) in King! From playing disc golf and pollinating a garden to crafting a mixed-media masterpiece or mastering karate, there’s a recreation activity for everyone. The full listing of programs can be viewed in the new 2024 Spring and Summer Recreation Activity Guide, available online at king.ca/recreation.

Registration for spring and summer recreation programs opens at 7 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 8 at townshipofking.perfectmind.com. The Township’s online recreation registration system is conveniently available 24/7 and allows you to search for programs by day of the week, age, location and area of interest. Registration can also be completed in-person at the Trisan Centre or the King Township Municipal Centre.

Spring programming begins on April 1 and ends on June 30, while summer programming runs throughout July and August at various Township recreation facilities and parks. Highlights include:

All Ages & Family: disc golf, rock climbing, astronomy, guided hikes, Indigenous dot-painting, gardening and backyard birding

Preschool: gymnastics, dance, sports, arts & crafts, and animal adventures in the park

Children and Youth: karate, crafting, sports, dance, archery, 3-on-3 ice hockey leagues, adapted gymnastics, and (lots!) of outdoor eco-adventures, including challenge course climbing

Adult: archery, disc golf, pickleball (leagues and learn-to-play), Nordic pole walking, line dancing and new kickboxing workouts led by Canadian Karate Olympian, Daniel Gaysinsky

Programming for seniors ages 55 years and older is delivered in partnership with the King Township Seniors Board. For more information about a membership and programs, visit king.ca/seniors.

Can’t commit to a full program? The Township also offers a variety of drop-in programming, ranging from arts, sports, skating and a parent and child playgroup.

Free Community and Special Events
Residents ready to get into ‘spring cleaning’ mode can look forward to community clean up, tree planting, yard sale and electronic recycling events. Many fan-favourites – and essential kick-offs to a Canadian summer – are also returning, including Victoria Day and Canada Day celebrations. And, to the culinary and sipping delights of everyone, the King Food and Drink Fest (formerly known as the King Craft Beer and Food Truck Festival) will feature some of the best bites and bevies in the area. Refer the guide for a full listing of community and special events scheduled to run April through July.
