Indoor and outdoor recreation programs and library activities are on the agenda
Township of King, Ont. — As March Break draws near and spring is right around the corner, King Township is getting ready for an exciting week packed with enjoyable activities tailored for residents and visitors of every age. From March 11 to March 15, the Township's recreational, library and cultural facilities will be bustling with a diverse range of programs and events to keep everyone engaged and entertained.
Indoor activities
Recreational skates
All three indoor arenas in King City, Nobleton and Schomberg will offer skates, including dedicated times for youth and adult shinny hockey, figure skating, parent and tot, senior 55+, family stick and puck and open recreational skating for all ages. King Heritage and Cultural Centre
Roll up your sleeves and put history to the test doing DIY activities at the King Township Heritage and Cultural Centre. Pre-register online at kingheritageandculture.ca or drop-in any time between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be new activities each day.
King Township Public Library
The King Township Public Library will run a wide variety of programs at its three branches in King City, Nobleton and Schomberg. Programming highlights include making friendship bracelets, Make-It Lab, a live animal show, a Dungeons and Dragons mega-afternoon and much more. Inclusive programming
Para Ice Hockey will take place at the Nobleton Arena on Wednesday, Mar. 13 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. This event welcomes individuals of all ages and abilities, with no prior experience required. Sledges and sticks will be provided. Interested participants can preregister online at king.ca/inclusion.
Trisan Fitness Centre
Keep on track with your fitness resolutions goals over the March Break at the Trisan Fitness Centre in Schomberg. It offers an active workout space featuring a variety of cardio and strength equipment, walking track and group exercise classes, including bootcamp, yoga, dance, and spinning. Single use, monthly and annual memberships are available for students, adults and seniors. For more information, visit king.ca/trisancentre.
Spring recreation programs
Bring on spring (and summer too) in King! From playing disc golf and pollinating a garden to crafting a mixed-media masterpiece or mastering karate, there’s a spring and summer recreation activity for everyone. Outdoor activities
Cold Creek Maple Syrup Fest
Join us for a delightful day at the Cold Creek Conservation Area on Saturday, Mar. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for our annual Maple Syrup Festival. Indulge in a pancake breakfast, embark on guided hikes to the sugar bush, witness tree tapping demonstrations and explore the vendor market featuring a variety of local artisans. Cold Creek snowshoe and ski rentals
Experience the beauty of winter in King Township with snowshoe and ski rentals at Cold Creek Conservation Area. Rentals are available for all ages and skill levels, weather permitting. And if there isn’t enough snow to snowshoe or ski, Cold Creek boasts beautiful trails for hiking. King also boasts 100 km of trails throughout the Township.
