In a bid to ‘pioneer progress and advance together,’ King Township has unveiled its Digital Transformation Framework. This strategic blueprint aims to leverage technology and data to drive innovation, streamline business operations and elevate delivery of Township services. Being one of the first small-sized municipalities in Ontario to undertake a comprehensive digital transformation strategy, King is demonstrating leadership and innovation. 
The framework, presented to Township Council on April 29, outlines a vision to transform King into a digitally empowered community which ambitiously adopts innovative and measurable solutions in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Outcomes will include:
• streamlining processes
• increasing productivity
• reducing costs
• improving stakeholder experiences
The framework will be implemented through a two-phased approach. The first phase, which began in May 2024, lays the groundwork for the digital journey and focuses on ‘quicks wins’ including the integration of artificial intelligence tools. The subsequent phase, concluding in 2025, will evolve based on insights gained during the first phase and the successes of initial projects.
Digital transformation is increasingly important for municipal governments. It allows them to improve service delivery, engage citizens more effectively and make data-driven decisions. This framework represents King Township's commitment to embracing digital innovation for the benefit of its residents and the community at large.
As King embarks on its digital journey, the organization and community will move forward together, keeping in mind that technology is not a replacement for human connections. King strives to find a harmonious balance between efficiency and personalization, ensuring that everyone’s needs are met and digital solutions are not the only solution provided.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence session
Building on King’s journey in digital transformation, it will host an engaging and informative session on the history and evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Tuesday, May 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the King Township Public Library’s King City Branch.

This introductory discussion will help you build familiarity with AI by exploring real-world examples and discussing current trajectories. Learn about the origins of AI, its development over time and its potential to revolutionize the way we live and work.
The session will be hosted by Marco Cheng-Perri, Supervisor of Digital Transformation and Corporate Performance at King Township. No registration is required.
