2 Tier: Leaders in Training (L.I.T.)/Counsellor in Training (C.I.T.)

This program is for youth who are interested in finding out what it takes to be a camp counsellor. It  includes a theory and a practical component where youth assist camp staff during the summer.  Training dates for this program are listed below, and please note that in addition to completion of the training, all participants are required to volunteer at camp for 2 weeks during the summer.  For more information on the program see page 38 in the Spring & Summer 2013 Guide.

  • LIT Training Dates: Tuesday, May 21 & Tuesday, May 28 from 7:00-9:00pm, at the Nobleton Arena
  • CIT Training Date: Thursday, May 23 & Thursday, May 30 from 7:00-9:00pm, at the Nobleton Arena

Youth Wild Leadership Camp NEW!!!

A new adventure awaits! This camp will allow youth to gain confidence and leadership skills while enjoying the outdoors at Cold Creek Conservation Area.  The camp consists of two overnights at Cold Creek Conservation Area (Tuesday & Wednesday night).  The camp focus is on team work, leadership, and nature appreciation.  Camper's will be challenged each day with various tasks that include, team building, high ropes, rock climbing, canoeing, and so much more.  So get WILD about leadership this summer!

Archeology: Chasing History NEW!!!

Canoe, hike, explore!  Identify plants and wildlife at Cold Creek and learn about the life of early King settlers through the re-creation of their daily life.  This camp will include a supervised "dig" led by the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority's archeologists.  Activities will take place indoors and outdoors in an atmosphere of fun and learning. 
NOTE: Special Age 10-14

Art Camp-Advanced

This camp is for those campers with a strong interest and wish to explore their artistic talent further while benefitting from the instruction of a professional artist.  Activities will take place indoors and outdoors in an atmosphere of fun and learning.   NOTE: Special Age 10-14 

Comic Book/Graphic Novel Camp

Calling all comic and graphic novel enthusiasts - this program is just for you!  Working with skilled illustrators and writers, campers will learn how to bring their characters to life trough engaging workshops.   Various concepts are explored that  will help inspire and bring the camper's imagination  to the pages of their very own comic book.                                           NOTE: Special Age 9-14

Fashion Camp

Experience the world of fashion and create your own design portfolio of sportswear, formal and casual  outfits.  Campers will also learn some basic sewing skills and up-cycle an old item into something new.  Activities will take place indoors and outdoors in an atmosphere of fun and learning.
NOTE: Special Age 10-14

Skateboard Camp

Our skateboard program is designed by experienced instructors and focuses on skills, balance and style.
Participants learn how to: ollie, manual, board slide on rails, properly drop into a quarter pipe, 50-50, among many others! This program offers our Skateboard design workshop. Participants decorate a skateboard and keep it! Boards are available for purchased for $25 from the Township of King.

Mountain Biking Camp

Partnered with the Ontario Cycling Association’s SprocKids program, the Parks Recreation & Culture Department teaches current and future mountain bikers the basics of safety and proper riding techniques.  Bikes and helmets provided.
