By-Law Enforcement Services  

The By-Law Enforcement Officers of the Township of King are committed to the delivery of professional by-law enforcement in a timely and effective manner. The goal of the Township is to achieve compliance with municipal by-laws, through education, mediation and as necessary through enforcement and prosecution. Officers strive to enforce the municipal by-laws in a fair and consistent manner. 

Our primary goals while enforcing municipal by-law include: 

  • Public safety; and 
  • Maintaining community standards which contribute to improving the quality of life in the community; and
  • Managing behavioral and nuisance issues to promote a harmonious living environment in the Township of King.

By-law Enforcement Services for the Township of King is operated within the Clerk's Department. The Department is staffed with a Manager, two Enforcement Officers and one Administrative Assistant. Our office hours include Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We are located within the Township of King Administrative Offices at 2075 King Road, King City. 

By-law Enforcement Services is responsible for the enforcement of By-laws passed by the Mayor and Council of the Township of King as well as certain Provincial Legislation.  Some of the most common by-law complaints within the Township relate to animal complaints, depositing fill without a permit, littering, noise control, prohibited parking, property standards, standing water, water restrictions, weed complaints, and zoning infractions.  To report an occurrence after regular office hours that requires immediate assistance, please contact the York Regional Police Services at 905-895-1221.  The Enforcement Manager and Officers are also appointed as inspectors by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food to carry out enforcement as it relates to "The Weed Control Act of Ontario", in cases where agricultural land is effected by noxious weeds named within the Act.
